my photography is playful, capturing kids and families in the moment, and in their element. shooting outdoors in a familiar environment — on your front porch, backyard, or favorite neighborhood park— puts kids at ease and allows them to be themselves. as mother of two young children, i’m tuned into kid-think, and come to every photo shoot ready to engage kids in conversation, songs, or games. encouraging them to be silly, proud, messy, loud, funny, fast, or wide-eyed translates to images that portray a million details about life stages and personalities.

ready working with clients individually, i take the time to personally tailor each portrait session by discussing ideas, possible locations, and any necessary details in advance. i’m happy to advise you on what to wear but really recommend just being yourself and encouraging your kids to do the same. i draw on years of experience to create a relaxed and comfortable environment in both outdoor and indoor settings. my photo sessions are meant to be fun!

set i work with available light as much as possible to create the highest quality images and keep things loose and natural. sessions take anywhere from 60 to 90 minutes, with a leisurely pace that lets kids be themselves. stopping for a snack or a breather is all a part of the process. authentic portraits are my goal.

i will come to your home or meet you at one of D.C.’s wonderful parks or landmarks. some of my favorite D.C. locations include the many gardens on the National Mall, the Capitol grounds, Montrose Park in Georgetown and Garfield Park on Capitol Hill.

go in partnership with pictage, i offer online proof viewing, print ordering and professional printing services. you can access your images for one month and share them with friends and family. soon after your website is live you’ll receive an 8x10 proof book with numbered images– it’s great for ordering and sharing the photos too.

a few weeks after your portrait session we’ll get together to go over questions, create series, and discuss cropping and framing. this print consultation is an essential part of my process and is included in the basic fee. all sessions can be paid for by check, cash or via paypal.
